Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Site Content - SEO leads the strategic development and execution of Macy's site content SEO program and drives scalable, measurable organic growth. The position optimizes category-level content, taxonomy, and internal linking while managing a team of SEO specialists. The Senior Manager partners closely with Site Merchandising, UX, Product, and Engineering to embed SEO best practices across Macy's digital experience. The role requires deep expertise in SEO and site structure, combined with the ability to influence content, navigation, and user journeys to maximize discoverability and conversion.

What You Will Do



  • Lead a team optimizing taxonomy, category pages, and content structure to improve SEO performance and discoverability.
  • Partner with Site Merchandising to embed SEO strategy into seasonal planning, navigation updates, and site refreshes.
  • Collaborate with UX and Product Design teams to evolve crawlable, user-friendly experiences aligned with SEO goals.
  • Own on-page SEO strategy, including content modules, metadata, internal linking, and content hierarchy.
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute scalable initiatives that improve rankings, drive traffic, and strengthen site structure.
  • Serve as SEO lead for site-wide initiatives such as taxonomy restructuring, replatforming, and category expansion.
  • Develop documentation and scalable workflows to support recurring optimization efforts.
  • Establish standardized measurement frameworks for ongoing and strategic SEO initiatives, leveraging Macy's full SEO toolset to track benchmarks and performance for holistic impact assessment.
  • Advocate for SEO considerations in UX testing, navigation changes, and content model development.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.



Skills You Will Need

SEO Expertise: Deep knowledge of taxonomy, site architecture, crawl/index dynamics, on-page optimization, and scalable SEO strategies for large, complex websites.

Leadership: Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a team of SEO specialists while driving measurable impact.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Skilled at partnering with UX, Site Merchandising, Product, and Engineering to integrate SEO best practices into site design, navigation, and user experience.

Technical & Analytical Tools: Proficient in enterprise SEO and analytics platforms such as Screaming Frog, GSC, SEMrush, Looker Studio, BrightEdge, or similar.

Strategic Communication: Strong ability to translate SEO goals into business-aligned solutions, advocate for SEO considerations, and influence stakeholders at multiple levels.

Prioritization & Organization: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, balance short-term optimizations with long-term strategic initiatives, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

User-Centric Mindset: Comfortable embedding SEO into broader content, navigation, and experience strategies to maximize discoverability, traffic, and conversion.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 6-8 years of experience in SEO, digital site strategy, or ecommerce content management.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
