YOUR ROLE

Responsible for providing comprehensive to specialized transportation and logistics design and engineering functions and leading or coordinating various projects or functions.Perform activities that involve the application of comprehensive to specialized transportation and engineering principles and practices, develop metrics and proposals and coordinate internal resources as required. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?


  • Assist with training and developing engineering staff to include on the job training, reviewing work and studies, and assisting with feedback.

  • Perform more comprehensive transportation and engineering analytics and system reviews, such as collecting, reviewing, and analyzing data, forecasts and other related information.


  • Develop comprehensive center of gravity, network analysis, and/or transportation analysis solutions for current/potential customers.


  • Communicate with operations/engineering trams regarding solution, carriers, services, processes, labor requirements, etc.


  • Prepare presentations for senior management and customers regarding recommendations of studies and projects; may assist with presenting information.

  • Coordinate with the engineering team on cost models, assumptions and risks for projects that are typically larger in scope.

  • Obtain internal certification on the cost model and ability to complete a cost model should transportation only projects require one.


  • Lead and/or develop standard operating procedures, work instructions and related materials.


  • Identify and deliver on project milestones, communicate with stakeholders, remove complex obstacles and ensure a variety of resources are available.

  • Ensure processes and operations comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations; seek advice and interpretation when required and apply across operations.
  • Develop specialized or more comprehensive metrics and goals for programs, oversee performance, and work with staff when potential problems are identified to bring to resolution.
  • Coordinate internal resources to respond to internal or external customer requests, such as gathering, analyzing and summarizing information.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.



WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?


  • In depth understanding of and experience in the transportation industry.
  • Experienced in designing solutions for small parcel transportation.
  • Detailed understanding around small parcel carriers and the service levels that they offer, carrier pricing formats, applications of carrier surcharges, and the ability to apply carrier pricing to customer shipment data.

  • Knowledge of other transportation modes such as Less Than Truckload (LTL), Truckload (TL), Dedicated Fleet, Air, and Ocean.


  • Able to work with large amounts of data and to take information provided by operations and/or customers and distill it down into different formats that are to be used throughout the design/rating process.

  • Capable of ensuring operations comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations with the ability to apply across operations.
  • Ability to develop specialized analytics, reports and communications within transportation, engineering, and operational design.
  • Ability to develop complex rating scenarios and costs.
  • Capable of determining metrics and measurements for transportation and logistics programs.

  • Able to communicate transportation information and facilitate communication cross customers, operations and other groups.

  • Operates in both a team and individual contributor environment.
  • Capable of developing and delivering reports and presentations.
  • A working knowledge transportation modelingsoftwarewould be a plus.



Minimum:


  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or Industrial Engineering or the equivalent education and experience.
  • Typically, at least five years of experience, including some specialized or complex work.
  • Professional certification may be required in some areas.



Preferred:


  • Master's Degree in related field.



Travel: Travel is typically not required.
