Overview

NaphCare has an excellent opportunity for a VP of Operations - Federal Prisons to join our team at our Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham, AL.

As the Vice President of Operations - Federal Prisons you will be accountable for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of community-based medical services for multiple Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) correctional facilities across the country. The position is based out of Birmingham and will require approximately 10% time traveling.



Responsibilities

The Vice President of Operations - Federal Prisons is primarily responsible for providing operational oversight and contract adherence with our BOP clients, community-based hospitals, and provider groups. Additional responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:

    Serves as a liaison for effective collaboration among multiple company departments including contracting, claims, scheduling, and medical records.
  • Utilizes appropriate resources effectively and timely to ensure adherence to contract requirements and the ability to recommend and/or implement performance improvement processes.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, contracts, policies, and safety standards.
  • Proactively acts to solve problems and uses objectivity and insightfulness when approaching problems, meeting established goals, and taking responsibility for results and outcomes.
  • Works closely with the EVP of Federal Prisons on operational issues that involve our correctional clients and provider networks.
  • Coordinates and conducts site visits at BOP correctional facilities and/or provider facilities located across the continental US as well as conduct regular teleconference calls with our clients.
  • Demonstrates professionalism by using objectivity, maintaining self-control when under pressure, maintaining a high degree of integrity, and promoting a positive work environment by setting an example for all company employees.
  • Works with EVP to develop and implement operational strategies that align with the Company's overall business objectives.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement, support, and commitment amongst the team.
  • Builds productive working relationships with staff, supervisors, security, healthcare staff, patients, vendors, and clients.
  • Leads, guides, and mentors operation teams, including managers and other staff.


Qualifications

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • BA / BS with a healthcare or business degree, Masters preferred
  • At least 10 years of healthcare related experience
  • At least 5 years of managerial and supervisory experience required, multi-state management experience highly desirable
  • Travel required 10%
  • Must be detailed oriented and highly effective in communication, route cause analysis, and problem solving.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, work under pressure, manage changing priorities and exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational and/or contract objectives.
  • Must have excellent written, verbal, negotiating, and interpersonal skills to promote the company's core values of being a customer-service oriented company.
  • Must be adaptable to environments where conditions may not be pristine, and manage and maintain in stressful situations
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening

Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Demands

  • Long periods of sitting at a desk performing light physical work, including working at a computer terminal
  • Light physical work involving lifting and carrying
  • Talking and listening to communicate ideas or requirements to individual staff members
  • Visual acuity to listen attentively and accurately
