Overview
The Consumer Direct Mortgage Banker is responsible for mortgage loan production through channels directed by the Residential Sales Director. The primary source of business will be directed from company-sourced initiatives. The role focuses on working directly with consumers to help them secure mortgage loans, ensuring all applications are in compliance with applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and bank policies. The Consumer Direct Mortgage Banker is also responsible for maximizing production through referrals from centers of influence, affinity partners, and past clients, while maintaining an exceptional customer experience throughout the loan process.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Consistently meets and exceeds individual and/or team sales goals, including but not limited to deposit, loans, and other, as applicable.
- Increase conforming loan applications by utilizing company-sourced initiatives, marketing efforts, and referrals from centers of influence, previous customers, and client referrals.
- Assess the financial needs of potential and existing customers to provide loan options and identify opportunities for cross-selling to other lines of business within the bank.
- Recommend loan solutions that align with client financial needs, underwriting guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Collect and analyze customer financial information for multifaceted and/or complex borrowers to prepare customized loan solutions.
- Develop and prepare loan solutions, ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements, and refer products and services when necessary. Ensure all documentation is properly reviewed and accurate.
- Efficiently manage the customer pipeline to ensure timely loan approvals and closings, minimizing delays in the process.
- Maintain a strong focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience throughout the loan process, from application to closing.
- Assist new Mortgage Loan Officers (MLOs) and Mortgage Bankers (MBs) during the onboarding process, offering guidance on sales tactics, compliance, and company standards.
- Meets the requirements of the S.A.F.E. Act and is expected to follow procedures, including notifying Human Resources of any changes in current status.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years years of experience in mortgage loan origination, with a focus on consumer direct mortgage lending.
- Strong understanding of mortgage loan origination processes and industry standards, ensuring compliance with lending regulations and best practices.
- Knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to mortgage and home equity lending, including TILA, RESPA, HMDA, BSA/AML, and the SAFE Act.
- Ability to evaluate and analyze customer financial information, particularly for complex borrowers, to assess loan eligibility and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Ability to recommend loan products in accordance with lending guidelines and clients' financial requirements.
- Proficiency with loan origination systems and Microsoft Office to manage loan applications and documentation efficiently.
- Strong communication skills to maintain customer relationships and provide clear loan product recommendations.
- Attention to detail to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements throughout the loan origination process.
- Ability to generate new business and referrals from centers of influence, previous customers, and internal partners.
- Demonstrates professionalism and excellent customer service throughout the mortgage process.
- Ability to manage a pipeline of customers efficiently, ensuring timely loan processing and closure.
- Must meet the requirements of the SAFE Act and notify HR of any status changes in accordance with compliance procedures.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Real Estate or related field preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
