This position is responsible for maintaining the detailed fixed asset system by working closely with Accounts Payable, various headquarters departments, the Tax Department and distribution center personnel. This position also reconciles various other corporate accounts and prepares the financial statements.

The Capital Accounting Analyst is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office four days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Carrollton, TX.

What you'll do as a Capital Accounting Analyst:



  • Update and maintain the fixed asset subledger for all asset additions, transfers and retirements on a period basis, ensuring that transactions are properly authorized, documented and recorded. Coordinate rolling stock activity with Transco Controller in Temple.
  • Process Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) requests, obtaining all necessary signatures for approval. Determine proper accounting treatment for amounts requested. Set up CAPEX files, review and code invoices and prepare Capital Spending Summary report each period.
  • Coordinate annual fixed asset inventory and reconcile the completed listings.
  • Prepare general ledger journal entries by gathering and analyzing information from various sources.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and recognize the need for account adjustments.
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Prepare period Financial Statements including analyzing changes in working capital.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual capital plan, depreciation forecast and tax depreciation calculations and schedules.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


Qualifications you'll bring as a Capital Accounting Analyst:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance required.
  • 2 years of accounting experience, fixed asset knowledge preferred.
  • Working knowledge of and a willingness to learn various McLane operating systems.
  • Strong Excel skills required.
  • Ability to identify and work through problems and conflicting issues in a clear and diplomatic manner.
  • Focused ability to review and interpret data, transactions, policies, and business practices.
  • Be able to successfully pass a physical capabilities test (if necessary), drug screen and criminal background check.
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
