Job Description:

At Southwest Airlines, the Safety of our Customers, Employees, and aircraft is our number one priority. The Senior Emergency Response Consultant is responsible for planning, developing, and executing Southwest's Emergency Response Program. They'll leadprojects and initiatives to enhance resources, plans, and the overall response to disruptive events. Additionally, the Consultant influences and advises all Southwest departments on response initiatives. The Senior Emergency Response Consultant has strong communication skills and a continuous improvement mindset to support initiatives that enhance the Safety and security of Southwest.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Company's efforts to comply with the federal regulations for emergency preparedness as outlined in the Aviation Disaster Family Assistance Act of 1996, as well as other applicable laws and Company standards
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all Southwest Departments to better develop and enhance response plans
  • Influences departments across the Company to create and maintain consistency in the Emergency Response Program
  • Perform research and analysis to ensure the Emergency Response Program continues to evolve and is properly documented and maintained
  • Provide direction and guidance to Response Teams by developing materials and facilitating sessions related to the Emergency Response Program
  • Develop and leads Companywide preparatory crisis drills along with select Team and local emergency drills
  • Represent Southwest at external industry meetings and trainings and shares knowledge gained with appropriate Emergency Response Leaders and Teams
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of emergency response and crisis management procedures
  • Knowledge of advanced training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the Emergency Response Program
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Skilled in creating written materials, including reports, presentations, and other documentation as needed
  • Skilled in developing clear and concise written materials, including presentations
  • Ability to respond to situations with a clear sense of urgency while exhibiting calm and confident behaviors
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and prioritize accordingly
  • Ability to perform basic statistical and data analysis
  • Ability to use survey tools
  • Ability to demonstrate executive presence at all levels of Leadership through development and facilitation of presentations
  • Ability to direct and influence the work of others
  • Ability to work well with others as part of a team with awareness and understanding of reactions of others

Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Advance level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:

    • Process documentation and simplification
    • Emergency Response/Crisis Management procedures
  • Preferred: Advanced Microsoft Office experience (especially PowerPoint)
  • Preferred: QuickBase experience
Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Pay & Benefits:

  • Competitive market salary from $116,350 per year to $129,300 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
