Director of Capital Projects

Position Summary:

The Director of Capital Projects, drives all aspects of planning, design, construction, and stakeholder management for large scale projects across Yeshiva University's New York City campuses. They will be responsible for projects from inception through delivery, including defining project scope, developing budgets and schedules, tracking expenses, leading project meetings with cross-functional teams, and providing update reports to stakeholders. The Project Manager will also continuously monitor and assess potential project risks, escalating scope, budget, and timeline issues as appropriate.

This role reports to the Project Management Office, and will collaborate with staff in University Operations, Information Technology Services, Institutional Advancement, and other departments throughout the University to achieve project goals.

Position Responsibilities:

• Conducts programming studies with academic + administrative stakeholders to define and clarify the scope of work.
• Develops and maintains project budgets and schedules, tracks costs, and escalates risks to leadership.
• Reviews and approves consultants' design documents and coordinates in-house selection of furniture, signage, and AV.
• Manages the bid, selection, and procurement of design consultants, GCs, CMs, + other vendors, and monitors performance.
• Defines project meeting cadence during design and construction phases and ensures consultants, GCs, and CMs maintain schedule.
• Assists with capital budget plans and recommends and requests funding based on project needs.
• Facilitates communications among the project team, vendors, stakeholders, and sponsors, and documents key decisions.
• Provides project status updates to the Senior Director for reporting to leadership.
• Mentors project managers on an as-needed basis.
• Performs other related duties as required or requested.

Experience & Educational Background:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 8+ years' experience in capital project management with demonstrated knowledge of design + construction methodologies.
• Experience managing design and construction projects with an emphasis on interior renovation and fit-outs.
• Experience developing and maintaining design and construction budgets and schedules.
• Understanding of NYC building codes, Local Laws, and OSHA regulations.
• Understanding of NYC permitting and regulatory agency requirements.
• Experience managing academic building projects and working with university stakeholders is preferred.

• Ability to read and understand architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical drawings.
• Demonstrated ability to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Understanding of critical path scheduling using project scheduling software.
• Flexible, adaptable, and resourceful when managing multiple projects.
• Skilled at meeting facilitation with the ability to clarify participant perspectives and reach consensus.
• Skilled at Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Salary Range

$135,000 - $160,000
