Job Summary
The Director of Inclusive Excellence and Student Development collaborates with the Vice President of Inclusive Excellence as a partner with university departments to advance Bethel's mission, biblical vision for diversity, inclusive excellence, and cultural intelligence with curricular and co-curricular departments. Provides leadership and oversight of student leadership development programs, scholarships, recruitment, retention, and student organizations. The purpose of the role is to foster flourishing/thriving in academic (school), interpersonal (social), and intrapersonal (self/spiritual) domains-particularly for students from historically underresourced populations. The Director of Inclusive Excellence oversees a comprehensive student leadership development strategy informed by data on student thriving, aligned with Bethel's commitment to reflect the look, feel, thoughts, and actions of the house of God.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Inclusive Excellence Strategy, Partnership and Assessment - 35%
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Inclusive Excellence to implement and assess Bethel's strategic plan for inclusive excellence across co-curricular environments.
  • Partner with university departments to achieve inclusive excellence
  • Support university-wide assessment efforts related to access, equity, student learning, leadership development, and campus climate.
  1. Student Leadership Development and Program Oversight - 35%
  • Provide vision, oversight, and mentorship for intercultural leadership development programs that cultivate holistic student growth-academic, social, and spiritual.
  • Supervise student leaders, and manage related scholarships and organizations and other initiatives designed to foster student thriving.
  • Develop leadership pathways for students engaged in cultural clubs, spiritual formation, curricular and co-curricular engagement.
  1. Recruitment, Retention & Engagement - 15%
  • Design and support student success initiatives aimed at improving retention and engagement of underresourced student populations.
  • Partner with the College of Arts and Sciences and Enrollment teams in recruitment efforts and events for diverse student populations.
  • Serve on committees and task forces focused on student success, inclusion, and belonging.
  1. Cultural Club and Student Government Advising - 10%
  • Serve as the lead advisor to cultural clubs and organizations in partnership with Student Life and Bethel Student Government.
  • Facilitate leadership training, event planning, and budget management for cultural club leaders.
  1. Student Support and Conduct - 5%
  • Collaborate with leaders in Student Experience to provide culturally responsive mentorship and care to students.
  • Support student conduct processes using restorative justice and trauma-informed practices to promote accountability, growth, and reconciliation.

Experience

Required Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field.
Education

Required Education
  • Master's degree.

Additional Information

Travel: This position requires some local and regional travel.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

The work environment involves working for a suburban, Christian university in which all employees are expected to have a demonstrated commitment and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a commitment to the mission and values of the University, and an agreement to abide by all University policies.

Expected Hours of Work:
Typically, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with the expectation to work specific schedules and hours as identified and communicated by management. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This is a 40 hour per week, 12 months per year position.
