For more information visit our website at www.kearfott.com Embedded/Controls Engineer I Overview Utilizes engineering methodologies, principles, and tools to develop or improve technical products, systems, or processes that meet specified requirements and standards. Researches and identifies optimal materials and processes to ensure product quality, performance, and manufacturability. This includes providing support in the area of design, testing, documentation, generation of computer models, and the creation of prototypes. Essential Functions * Researches and identifies optimal materials and processes to ensure product quality, performance, and manufacturability. * Utilizes CAD software and engineering methodologies to create blueprints, drawings, or models and communicate designs and specifications to stakeholders * Collaborates with stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure specifications are captured. * Helps ensure designs meet objectives for performance and cost. * Investigates root cause failures and develops procedures to prevent further failures. * Uses professional training and internal policies and procedures with guidance and direction from others to solve a variety of technical problems. * Performs prototype testing to evaluate the performance and reliability of designs, collect feedback, and draw meaningful insight for product improvements. * Maintains detailed documentation of test results, processes, and specifications for future needs. * Participates in design reviews. * Organize, develop and conduct research studies, investigations, or analyses directed toward the solution of moderately complex technical problems. * Gather, correlate and analyze technical information necessary to the accomplishment of assigned tasks. * Prepare reports, charts, graphs and other documents. Functional * Develops protocols for testing electrical circuits. * Digital and analog circuit design for performance, signal integrity, EMI * Component analysis emphasizing component worst-case, stress and reliability analysis Critical competencies: * Analog and digital design skills including highspeed bus and peripherals (UART, SPI) * Knowledge of layout techniques for signal integrity and EMI * Test and Lab Instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) * Oral, written and electronic communication skills Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills Required: * BS in Electrical Engineering * 0-2 years engineering experience * Familiarity with electronics design and development/hardware environments * Microsoft Office * Engineering Tools: Spice modeling, Mathcad/Matlab a plus * Bonus: Altium schematic/layout tools * Bonus: Experience with defense/aerospace * Bonus: DOORS requirements management software experience * Bonus: Team/group/project leadership experience * Due to U.S. export control laws under ITAR, this position is only open to U.S. persons, which includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), and certain protected individuals under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3). Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Requirements: * Ability to obtain a security clearance in the future * Proficiency with Matlab and Simulink * Experience/interest in Servo controls for moving mechanical assemblies * Ability to program DSP/microcontrollers In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $78,000 - $99,000 Annually. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
