The Baytown complex is comprised of HyCO and ASU facilities. The HyCO site is tied into an existing hydrogen pipeline system that spans from New Orleans to the Houston Ship Channel and supplies hydrogen to the integrated supply network for consumption by customers across the Gulf Coast Franchise.

Our Maintenance Superintendent is a key member of the West Gulf Coast Leadership Team and has responsibility for a broad range of duties focused on ensuring all elements of operational discipline are in place and functioning properly at the Facility.

The incumbent will report to the Regional Maintenance Manager and will be required to gain an understanding of all aspects of the site's operations with a specific focus on leadership skills as a site leader. They will be responsible for the overall maintenance of the Baytown facilities including safety, plant reliability, implementing productivity improvements, budget management, customer interface and turnarounds.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Strong leadership abilities coupled with excellent broad-based technical skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills and business acumen.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills are a must. Project management skills as well as experience creating and implementing structured work processes are a plus for this role.
  • Prior budgetary management and development experience is a plus.
  • Prior SAP experience is preferred, and quick proficiency is considered critical to success.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with the operations and maintenance teams to drive the best solutions for the business from a maintenance SAFETY, reliability, and production impact perspective daily.
  • Lead a Maintenance team of 12 to develop site talent through coaching, training and progression boards.
  • Develop fiscal year maintenance budget for each facility. Track and report monthly maintenance costs.
  • Work with the maintenance and operations teams to prioritize, develop, schedule, and communicate all daily, weekly, and long-term maintenance activities. Work with these groups to ensure maintenance execution readiness from a maintenance planning/ resourcing and operations equipment readiness perspective.
  • Drive the maintenance team towards compliance with maintenance performance metrics such as PM compliance, Compliance Management, maintenance backlog, monthly spending vs budget and safety program participation. Ensure 100% compliance with regulatory and very high priority maintenance activities.
  • Work with technical engineering support teams to drive towards innovative solutions to maintenance issues as well as capital project recommendations for end-of-life assets and design upgrades.
  • Proactively look for and mitigate safety concerns within all aspects of our maintenance activities.
  • Manage the site's Basic Safety Process and Process Safety Management.
  • Ensure environmental compliance in accordance with Air Products Corporate and Government regulations.
  • Understand safe operating, design, permit limits of site equipment.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, understand and correct the root cause of failures.
  • Collaborate with customers and the Air Products commercial team.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in a petrochemical or manufacturing environment with maintenance, and/or operations roles is desired.
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills are critical to the position.
  • Degree in technical trade school for instrumentation, mechanical, electrical, or Military technical training will be considered a plus. Relative experience will be given strong consideration in lieu of formal education.
