Biology has course setups for Environmental/Sustainability Sciences, General Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Microbiology. The Biology Lab Coordinator will have the following reporting structure: Faculty Chair Lab Coordinator Lab Technician Sr. (x2) Lab Technicians (x2) Part-time Technicians (3+) Essential Functions 40% Facilitates team planning and coordination by working with faculty and staff to organize and prioritize work. Provides guidance, support, and oversight to ensure goals are met. Actively collaborates with team members while supervising, reviewing, and supporting their work and professional growth. 20% Develops policies and procedures related to the assigned program Monitors program guidelines to ensure safety compliance. Monitors safety procedures and best practices, including the disposal of chemical and biological waste; as well as applicable policies, regulations, and laws. Coordinate training with the college Environmental Health and Safety Manager. 20% Performs program administration or project management including operational planning, budget administration, problem-resolution, and technical assistance. Assists in the development, administration, and monitoring of assigned program budget Assists with and oversees the maintenance of files, records, program materials, and documentation Maintains budget records and monitors expenditures; assists with evaluating the need for capital equipment purchases 10% Organizes, prepares, and oversees the maintenance, cleanliness, and functionality of laboratory supplies, equipment, materials, repair, and physical arrangement. Plans and coordinates the installation and maintenance of required chemicals, supplies and/or equipment. Reviews inventory needs, communicates with vendors, and purchases equipment and supplies when needed. 5% Oversees the setup and removal of laboratory equipment and supplies for learning exercises and experiments Prepares setups for Biology Labs and cleans lab setups when needed. This includes preparing chemicals, reagents, cultures, microbial media, supplies and equipment used for instruction in various Biology labs; clean labs and properly dispose of lab materials, chemicals, cultures, supplies, equipment and waste products. Coordinates scheduling; collaborates with faculty, and staff to maintain manuals and/or educational materials 2.5% Participates in hiring, discipline, and termination activities when needed. 2.5% Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development or directly related field and two years of related experience such as providing advanced program coordination and consultation that includes one or more of the following: planning, development, and/or implementing program projects and activities in area of assignment. A Master's Degree may be required for some assignments. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
