Overall Purpose

This position performs complex duties associated with Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) compliance, including dispute investigations, consumer responses, file disclosure processing and database maintenance.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to use judgmental decisioning to respond to consumer disputes related to consumer records, and ensure compliance timelines and regulated processes are met

  • Communicates with financial institutions to educate and clarify questions regarding the investigation process

  • Reviews reporting to ensure disputes are completed within FCRA guidelines

  • Fully investigates disputes based on provided documentation from the consumer and financial institutions to determine accuracy of decision

  • Process and send decision letters and emails to address consumer inquiries, and furnishers to complete cases

  • Manages the dispute workflow and dashboard

  • Review, prepare, and sends consumer reports

  • Recommends policy and procedure enhancements

  • Performs duties to support the consumer reporting activities.

  • Supports the company's commitment to protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma

  • Bank operations knowledge

  • Successful history dealing with complex and difficult customer situations; ability to use critical thinking skills to take ownership and resolve issues

  • Ability to work independently and handle large volumes of research cases

  • Possesses strong telephone soft skills, such as engaging with the customer and showing a willingness to help

  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office

  • Must have excellent verbal, written communication /interpersonal skills along with strong customer service skills.

  • Ability to work with limited supervision

  • Background and drug screen

Internal candidates must:

Consistently meet performance standards & department metrics

Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize current assigned work

Consistent record of attendance and reliability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

  • Experience with FCRA compliance in a banking environment

  • Bilingual - Spanish (speak/read/write) preferred.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment.Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours.Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching.Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently.Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers.Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.
