SUMMARY
The general laborer position assists the skilled craft personnel in performing required construction tasks to complete a project. The position includes but is not limited to: hand excavation work, chipping, paining flagging, general housekeeping and clean-up, fueling, and assisting mechanics and operators with greasing and maintaining the equipment. 50% or more travel will be required for this position. Rotations will be worked out as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.



  • Assist in the development of Work Element Plans and JSA's
  • Participates in site safety and planning meetings and Near Miss reporting
  • Ensures compliance with Manson's Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct.
  • Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment


QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS



  • Proficient working with standard laborer tools such as (but not limited to); sledge hammers, shovels, brooms, vacuums, pressure washers, and general hand tools
  • Must be able to take direction well and able to communicate: give, receive, understand, follow and respond to verbal and written instructions


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS



  • Must have a valid picture identification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must be able to meet the physical requirements of this position, including:



  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on marine vessels in water
  • Able to safely execute duties in and round heavy equipment/large machinery in marine dredging and marine construction job sites
  • Able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, safety glasses, personal flotation devices, respirators, etc.)
