SUMMARY

The Process Engineer I is responsible for stabilizing manufacturing processes between machining and post-processing. The Process Engineer I will work under direct supervision to support process strategies and implementation, process optimization, and document maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and implement new technologies to enhance manufacturing capabilities, improve product quality, and drive innovation across production processes.
  • Identify, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for both existing and new products, applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and ensure process capability.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing manufacturing data, identifying inefficiencies, and executing strategic projects using Lean tools (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping) and Six Sigma principles (DMAIC, statistical analysis).
  • Utilize the ERP/MRP system to define, control, and monitor manufacturing processes, ensuring data accuracy, traceability, and integration with continuous improvement goals.
  • Review and interpret customer blueprints, drawings, engineering plans, material specifications, and technical requirements to develop robust, efficient, and compliant manufacturing solutions.
  • Generate and maintain detailed CAD models, shop floor drawings, BOMs, routers, fixtures, and other technical documentation essential for production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, internal departments, and external stakeholders to align manufacturing strategies with broader organizational and customer objectives.
  • Participate in and support process validation activities (IQ, OQ, PQ), contributing manufacturing expertise to ensure reliable, consistent, and validated production operations.
  • Serve as a key member of the Material Review Board (MRB), analyzing nonconformities, utilizing root cause analysis, and driving timely, data-informed resolutions.
  • Analyze production performance metrics to recommend and implement improvements, leveraging Lean Six Sigma tools for root cause analysis and process control.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to proactively identify opportunities for innovation and process enhancement.
  • Perform special assignments as directed by supervision commensurate with experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced or working knowledge of GD&T
  • Advanced or working knowledge of SolidWorks
  • Willingness to work at a machine on the shop floor for an indeterminate period to gain additional machining knowledge if necessary
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to change
  • Must have experience using MRP/ERP system
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Work experience with cross-functional teams
  • Work experience in process development and/or continuous improvement
  • Experience with planning and executing projects
  • Experience working with external stakeholders (preferred)
  • Experience with fixture development and design (preferred)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in engineering, physical sciences, life sciences, or a related technical field, with 2+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing, laboratory, or experimental setting (e.g., process development, production support, or hands-on technical work). *
  • Preferred: Master's degree in engineering, physical sciences, life sciences, or a related technical field, with 1+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment. *

*Or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience, such as lab-based research, experimental process work, or internships/co-ops involving manufacturing or technical operations

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Preferred: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
