Facilities Management at the University of Virginia is seeking a Master Maintenance Technician to support weekend operations within the Housing Zone. This role is essential to ensuring reliable, cost-effective maintenance services for Housing & Residential Life (HRL) facilities, which include 7,000 beds across 180 buildings and over 3 million square feet of occupied space. Our portfolio includes single-family homes, residence halls, and apartments. This position serves as the primary point of contact for reactive and emergent maintenance needs throughout the weekend and plays a key leadership role within the zone. Master Maintenance Technicians are senior-level professionals who hold a journeyman license in at least one building trade and bring a minimum of four additional years of experience in a second trade. Responsibilities include advanced troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance across a wide range of building systems, such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, access control, and life safety systems. The technician is expected to work independently, mentor less experienced staff, and help ensure consistent service quality and operational efficiency across Grounds. Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,100 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, and maintenance of UVA's buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties. Anticipated Compensation: $36 - $40 per hour ($74,880 - $83,200 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for additional shift differential pay of $2 per hour. This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. Employee benefits package highlights include:
