Description

This is a full time, benefited, salaried RN Supervisor position with a start time between 06:00am - 0700am in the PreOp-PACU department at Mercy San Diego. On call is required for coverage and issues that may arise. This role will share responsibility for direct reports ( RNs, Techs and Unit Coordinators) with the Patient Care Manager. It is a combination of administrative and clinical duties, but mostly clinical.

This position is eligible to participate in the Supervisor incentive compensation plan.

Ensures nursing practice reflects established standards of care and practice and a culture that promotes patient safety. Under the general direction of the Patient Care Manager, shares leadership responsibilities for the nursing unit, including managing daily staffing plans. Ensures appropriate and timely use of bed placement technology and adherence to care processes for bed placement/patient transfer/patient transport/room cleaning and patient discharge. Payroll edits and coverage, Ensures the safe transition of patients thru the continuum of care to include active participation of nursing staff in planning and coordinating patient care, and direct hand-off to next appropriate level of care.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:



  • Two years applicable clinical experience, one of which in a leadership role. Charge RN is acceptable ( include it on your resume)
  • Requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning and follow-through.
  • Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.
  • Graduate of an accredited program.


Required Certification/Registration:



  • Maintains current California RN license.
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS and BLS for Healthcare Provider


Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:



  • BSN
  • Three plus years of work experience in PACU
