Your Role on the Team

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Contacts are both internal and external to the department.

The incumbent is responsible for the financial and administrative management of department accounts, major federal and private contracts and grants as well as other extramural funds that support various research and instructional programs within the Department of Family Medicine and Division of Geriatrics. The incumbent is also responsible for fiscal closing, School of Medicine budget processes and clinical analytics for the Department.

  • Demonstrated skill to supervise, motivate, develop and effectively evaluate staff.
  • Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
  • Ability to independently gather required information to organize and perform financial analysis assignments; strong critical thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely.
  • Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports; strong proficiency in the use of Excel.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; strong service orientation; proven organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task within a high-volume environment, and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a team.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of School of Medicine, UCI campus and general UC accounting, purchasing, travel, and payroll policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of contract and grant requirements.
  • Experience in a hospital and academic medical setting preferred.

Total Compensation

Expected pay range $77,000- $100,000.
