About the Job

Responsibilities:

Research Support and Experimental Work (90%):

  • Perform both routine tests to support microtubule-protein interaction research
  • Execute and optimize protocols for:
    • Recombinant protein production and purification
    • TIRF and EM microscopy to observe microtubule-recombinant protein interactions
    • Cell line culture and maintenance
  • Analyze experimental results using MATLAB and other tools; synthesize findings for protocol optimization
  • Collect, prepare, and test samples in accordance with detailed laboratory protocols
  • Record experimental procedures, observations, and results with precision
  • Evaluate data and provide interpretative support to guide ongoing projects

Routine Lab Maintenance and Support (10%):

  • Oversee lab operations including:
    • Waste disposal
    • Routine equipment checks
    • Supply inventory and cleanliness
  • Maintain compliance with all institutional safety and documentation standards
Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: BA/BS in biological sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling at least four years.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Solid understanding of laboratory protocols and compliance requirements
    • Experience with key laboratory techniques, including:
      • Tissue culture
      • Western blotting
    • Willingness and capacity to learn from and under the supervision of other laboratory members of specialized and validated protocols and techniques such as:
      • TIRF microscopy
      • Recombinant protein synthesis and purification
      • Electron microscopy (EM)
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Proficiency in analyzing experimental data.
    • Ability to contribute to the interpretation of the results.
  • Project Management:
    • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple concurrent projects under supervision
    • Track record of effectively reporting on research progress and outcomes
  • Work Ethic:
    • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently
    • Strong commitment to maintaining a clean and compliant laboratory environment
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $22.00 - $25.00/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 100% Appointment
