Job Title: C-17 Aircraft Mechanic

Location: Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ

Duration: 12 Months assignment with possible extension

Shift Schedule: First Shift (7:00 am- 3:30 pm)

Pay Rate: $41.91/hr. (36.98/hr. + 4.93 Health & Welfare benefits).

Requested Security Clearance: Secret

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Assembles, disassembles and/or modifies systems by changing, removing, replacing or upgrading aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes.
  • Oversees assembly, disassembly or overhaul.
  • Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.
  • Troubleshoots complex pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components.
  • Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components.
  • Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g., repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results).
  • Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements.
  • Oversees training and works under general direction.


Other Requirements:

  • Physical Demands: Exposed to loud noises, flexion/extension (head bent down, head bent back), handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching (overhead), rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist and walking, climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), crawling, crouching (squatting). Carry/Lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Training: Approximately 4 weeks - will likely take place in San Antonio, TX
  • Travel Comments: Domestic travel 50% or more. Possible international travel for which a corporate credit card will be issued for this assignment.


Education/Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate+2 years' related work, Bachelor, etc.).
