Role:

Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, is responsible for mortgage loan closing. In a courteous and professional manner, coordinates with Credit Union members and related parties closing dates and other closing activities. Works closely with title companies, Mortgage Underwriter/Processor and Mortgage Originator/Processor. May provide backup to processors and assist in other areas as needed.

Performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with The Apple Way principles, of Team Up, Serve with Purpose, Challenge Yourself and Own It. Remains cognizant of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act. Performs other duties as assigned by the Mortgage Operations Manager.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating mortgage settlements with buyers, sellers, real estate agents, attorneys and others. Sends closing packages on First and Second Trust mortgages, ensuring that necessary documents and parties are prepared.
  • Responsible for wiring large amounts of money for settlement, disburses loans with accuracy
  • Maintains loan documentation in the member's file, ensuring all policies, procedures and regulations are followed: Freddie Mac, FHLB, TILA, TRID
  • With attention to detail, arranges and schedules mortgage closing dates, communicating as necessary to Credit Union members in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintains First and Second Trust pipelines to ensure accuracy and on time settlements.
  • When necessary, prepares mortgage file for review by reconciling the income, appraisal value, credit history; determines the terms and conditions of the loan; and presents loan documentation to loan officer for approval.
  • Audits files to ensure that all required documents are present and accounted for.
  • Ensures that eNotes follow all regulatory requirements and are signed and delivered
  • Submits first trust files for Freddie Mac/UCD review to ensure compliant
  • Assists with filing and portfolio review.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: may be substituted for degree.

Minimum 5-7 years' experience in mortgage loan processing, closing or origination

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills.

Other Skills: Familiarity with mortgage loan products and features. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. PC proficient including Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements:

The ability to lift 25 lbs. and utilize standard office equipment including, but not limited to, PC, fax, copier, telephone, etc.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Some college preferred.

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment: Ability to function in a financial institution environment.
