Phlebotomy Coordinator - N. Macomb Region - 40 hrs - Days -

This role will support the Northern Macomb County outpatient labs. Travel may be required within region.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Coordinates activities of the phlebotomy staff to ensure timely and accurate specimen collection
and excellent customer service for patients. Performs oversight duties such as monitoring
performance, assigning work, scheduling, inventory control, and service improvements at local site
or across assigned sites.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Monitors activities to ensure laboratory specimens are collected using standard work, and to
ensure exceptional levels of customer service.
2. Ensures that all blood-drawing areas are properly cleaned and stocked according to
established policy. Assists with orders, inventory control, and product changes.
3. Oversees the orientation and training of new employees, students, and staff in specimen
collection, handling, and compliance. Ensures that staff at all assigned locations are
competent and following written collection and handling procedures (standard work).
4. Prepares work schedules and daily assignments. Coordinates time off requests and breaks
with workload. Oversees time and attendance records.
5. Provides input for performance appraisals and corrective actions as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Minimum of two years' experience performing phlebotomy with demonstrated competency
collecting specimens from all expected customer groups.
3. Demonstrated high performance with progressive responsibilities and the ability to work
independently with a diverse staff.
