Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Postal Associate is responsible for weighing letters and parcels, calculating postage costs based on type, weight, and destination, and affixing the appropriate postage. They process sales and payments for stamps, prepaid mail, envelopes, and money orders using the Return Receipt System ( RRS) and Point of Sale ( POS) systems. Additionally, they provide information on mailing regulations, postage rates, and student mail addresses. Their duties include sorting incoming and outgoing mail by type and destination, obtaining recipient signatures for parcels and special mail services, and transporting mail to student mailboxes, departments, and off-campus locations. As an acceptance agent in the university passport office, they facilitate the processing of passport applications. The position is expected to perform all other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience

  • Knowledge of USPS postal regulations, operation and resources.
  • Operation of PC, mail metering system.
  • Postal Safety and security regulations

Required Certifications or licensure

  • Valid NC Driver License.
  • Annual certification as passport acceptance agent required.
