Property Specialist Job ID JR101865 Date posted 06/06/2025 The Business Services Directorate (BSD) provides high-quality business services to support the Lab's research initiatives by participating in cross-functional teams with a focus on risk mitigation and cost management, which is a critical component to the Lab's success. Led by the Chief Financial Officer, Brookhaven's Business Services Directorate includes the Budget Office, Fiscal Services Division, Procurement & Property Management Division, Chief Financial Office, and the Business Operations Offices. The Directorate manages a broad range of financial activities, including the planning and implementation of the Lab's fiscal matters and its approximately $800 million annual budget. The mission of the Procurement and Property Management (PPM) Division is to provide support for purchasing services, materials, equipment and supplies for Brookhaven National Laboratory operations and programs. Organization Overview Brookhaven National Laboratory's Business Service Directorate (PR) Division seeks a Property Specialist. The Business Services Directorate provides high-quality business services to support the Laboratory's research initiatives by participating in cross-functional teams with a focus on risk mitigation and cost management critical components to the Lab's success. This position reports to the Property Warehouse Supervisor. The hours of operation/shift for this position are Monday- Friday 8am to 4:30pm. Position Description Under general supervision, the Property Specialist is responsible for providing support to the Property Management Section of the Procurement and Property Management Division. Carries out the established policies for the identification, tagging and control of the Laboratory's accountable assets. Assists Department/Division personnel in problem resolution and guidance in property matters. Conducts the biennial physical inventory of the controlled property. Assists the Property Manager in conducting walkthrough inspections as well as problem resolution. Responsible for receipt and classification of excess/surplus property generated by Laboratory organizations. Assists in the control of scrap disposals, sales and donation of property.
