Under supervision, the Purchasing Specialist assumes responsibility for placing orders, receiving/checking in orders, maintaining accurate inventory and charging methods for the entire surgery center. The Purchasing Specialist will also be responsible for picking all surgical procedures for scheduled case from physician preference cards, and for obtaining all special request items when procedures are scheduled. The Purchasing Specialist will be able to provide backup in sterile processing/decontamination areas and instrument assembly when needed.

This opportunity will be based at our new Plymouth Bass Lake Surgery Center set to open in the Fall of 2025. 8-hour shifts, Monday - Friday with flexibility to float to other Summit locations as needed.

  • Places orders for forms, clerical supplies, medical supplies, office equipment and medical equipment to appropriate vendors by calling, faxing or electronic mail.
  • Authorizes, unpacks, and verifies all received and ordered supplies against order slip and packing slip.
  • Inventory and restock medical/clerical supply shelves during periodic scheduled inventory control reviews.
  • Ensure orders are received and distributed to correct areas of surgery center.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding orders and service problems, reviews new or alternate supplies.
  • Informs database entry staff of new products and provides them with correct pricing and reference numbers.
  • Orders paper supplies for housekeeping.
  • Provides backup for surgery center processing/aide.
  • Assists with manpower request from staff: ie: under request to assist with physically restraining patients who may require restraint for the safety of other patients/staff.


Summit's hiring range for this position is $20.23 to $25.29 per hour. The hired candidate may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses, differentials and/or deferred compensation. Experience
Experience in a healthcare setting preferred. (preferred)
1 years: One year of purchasing and/or inventory control experience required. (required)
