Position Objective:

The Accountant II is responsible for performing intermediate to advanced accounting functions in support of accurate financial reporting and compliance with internal policies and external regulations. This role ensures the integrity of general ledger transactions, assists in the preparation of financial statements, reconciles accounts, and supports audits and budgeting processes. The Accountant II serves as a key resource for financial analysis and works collaboratively with other departments to support organizational goals.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for reconciling various GL accounts on monthly basis and analyzing reconciliation for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Responsible for preparing various JEs for month end closing and completing the close process timely.
  • Responsible for identifying reconciling items and taking action to correct root cause of problem or process.
  • Assist and or prepare monthly sales and property tax returns for all entities.
  • Responsible for monitoring repairs and maintenance accounts for any expenses that should be capitalized in accordance with GAAP.
  • Responsible for lease accounting in according with GAAP, using visual lease and Planful resources.
  • Assist in various routine or strategic initiatives that may require accounting analysis or reporting.
  • Assist with coordination of tax filings as it relates to general accounting responsibilities.
  • Assist in quarterly reviews/year-end audits with internal and external auditors.
Requirements

Position Requirements:

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with month-end and year-end close processes.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in budgeting or forecasting processes.
  • Prior exposure to SOX compliance or other regulatory frameworks.
