Organizational Unit Overview
TEDI BEAR Children's Advocacy Center of the Department of Pediatrics is in accord with this primary purpose. This purpose will be achieved by providing 1) comprehensive evaluation and treatment of children who have been referred because of suspected abuse and/or neglect and 2) providing an educational resource for professionals in eastern North Carolina who provide such evaluations themselves in their own communities 3) Provide child abuse prevention to professionals, the community, college students and 4) provide support for child abuse professionals in the region through promoting collaboration and providing training and guidance to advance child abuse knowledge as well as promote the interagency/multidisciplinary response to child abuse.
Job Duties
Primary duties include:
1. Provide adult group instruction to parents, relatives, child care workers, para-professionals, college students and the general public about prevention of child sexual abuse primarily utilizing the video-based "Stewards of Children" curriculum at various locations in Eastern North Carolina. As an authorized SOC Facilitator, provides groups instruction about the dynamics of sexual abuse, engaging participants to actively learn for successful demonstration of acquired knowledge. Public speaking to establish a positive rapport with participants while utilizing various media aids (i.e. laptop computer, projector, and DVD player). Educate adults about the role of CACs and child abuse investigations and communicate medical/mental health implications of abuse and the need for interventions and treatment for victims. Ensure pre and post evaluation for attendees and document acquired knowledge and project success through data management.
2. Establish partnerships with child-serving agencies to promote curriculum and provide training to agencies through marketing and promoting the benefits of understanding how to prevent and respond to CSA.
3. Provide offsite informational and outreach activities to promote the Stewards of Children curriculum, and raise awareness of the prevalence of CSA and how to prevent, react and respond to concerns of abuse.
4. Provide policy education and guidance for agency leaders on child abuse prevention.
5. Serve as a team member of TEDI BEAR CAC and provide support in various capacities to ensure best practice and compliance with 9 Standards of NCA Accreditation.

CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT

Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program ( ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b, 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System ( TSERS). Minimum Education/Experience
