Job Overview

The Makeup Artist is a highly engaged seller who is equipped to take care of Bloomingdale's most valuable beauty clients by offering solutions to their skincare, makeup, and fragrance needs by sharing their knowledge and passion for beauty through direct product application. The Makeup Artist establishes themselves as a trusted consultant and product expert throughout beauty. They will complete make-up applications and influence clients to purchase through their expert-level guidance on skin care and fragrance, engaging the customer in a way that encourages their return to the store.

This colleague's number one priority is to maximize sales and build long-term, high value relationships. The Makeup Artist is a beauty authority and skilled seller and serves as a key resource and leader for artistry and selling. Our Makeup Artists provide the highest level of service to clients, assisting them throughout the stores and our vendor network with all beauty needs and desires. Luxury products are their specialty. In partnership with the Regional Director of Stores and Corporate Top Client Development teams, the Makeup Artist builds community and personal relationships that drive good will and volume. They are the ultimate Bloomingdale's beauty and brand ambassador.

Essential Functions

• Provides clients with premium access to products and experiences. Utilizes network and tools to secure product for the customer.
• Consults directly with clients and recommends product solutions through direct and masterful application of product.
• Provide exceptional customer experience with makeup services; showcase excellent makeup and styling skills.
• Provides holistic service across beauty including skincare, color, and fragrance. Anticipates wishes and needs and proactively supports clients' occasions and holidays.
• Travels to and with clients as needed, reinforcing Bloomingdale's as a connection to exclusive brands, events and experiences, making lasting memories with clients.
• Hosts beauty presentations and private events in and out of stores.
• Teaches clients how to refine and style their beauty routines, both in the stores and through in-home appointments.
• Highly knowledgeable about products and formulations; leverages product knowledge as a selling tool.
• Effectively manages time and productivity; utilizes available technology to maximize efficiency.
• Expert in the features of the Bloomingdale's app and teach clients how to use it; utilizes "wish list" with clients to share product likes.
• Utilizes social media to stay aware of relevant fashion trends and pop culture; encourages user generated content by creating "post-worthy" experiences.
• Proactively seeks out product knowledge, continuously building their knowledge of brands and resources.
• Builds a relationship based on trust with each client.
• Has strong ties to the community, particularly with charities; establishes Bloomingdale's as a strong supporter in the community that gives back while creating business opportunities.
• Acquires new high value clients through networking.
• Cultivates trusting relationships with brands and merchants to secure limited availability.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years related experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret documents.
• Basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Able to react and adapt well to changing priorities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs which may include day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality is required.

Physical Requirements

• Requires periods of walking, standing, communicating, reaching, crouching and climbing ladders.
• Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform job functions, including handheld equipment, cash register and ability to process register transactions.
• Frequently lift/move up to 25lbs.
