Join us as our new Sanitation Supervisor

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Sanitation Supervisor oversees a team of Sanitation Leads and Technicians to ensure the facility is consistently cleaned and sanitized to maintain a high standard of sanitary conditions in compliance with all Novonesis standard operating procedures and 21 CFR 111 regulations.

In this role you'll make an impact by:

  • Delivering departmental objectives through performance management of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and people.
  • Fostering an environment conducive to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing by utilizing 5S and other tools.
  • Updating performance management boards (daily and weekly) and driving team's Kaizen suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • Conducting root cause analyses and determining corrective actions.
  • Recommending and implementing measures to improve processes, equipment performance, safety standards, and quality.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Developing, implementing, and managing the facility's sanitation program in alignment with 21 CFR Part 111 and other relevant regulations (e.g., FSMA, FDA guidelines
  • Overseeing the cleaning and sanitization of production equipment, tools, utensils, and facility areas, ensuring proper documentation and verification of activities.
  • Establishing and maintaining cleaning schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent cross-contamination and ensure product safety and quality.
  • Conducting regular inspections of production and storage areas to identify sanitation risks or deficiencies and promptly implement corrective actions.
  • Providing initial and ongoing training for direct reports as it relates to sanitation.
  • Managing 3rd party pest control company for weekly visits by reviewing results as well as scheduling additional visits that may be needed.
  • Maintaining accurate records of cleaning and sanitation activities for audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Collaborating with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to verify sanitation effectiveness through microbiological testing and environmental monitoring programs.
  • Staying updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices related to sanitation and hygiene in dietary supplement manufacturing.
  • Supervising and train sanitation personnel on cGMPs, hygiene practices, and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Assigning tasks, monitor performance, and provide coaching and feedback to ensure high standards of cleanliness are achieved and maintained.
  • Monitoring and maintaining an adequate inventory of cleaning supplies and sanitation tools, ensuring proper storage and use.
  • Evaluating and recommending improvements to sanitation processes, tools, and equipment to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Leading the sanitation team's response to contamination events, spills, or allergen issues, ensuring proper containment, cleaning, and documentation.
  • Investigating sanitation-related deviations and assist in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Delivering departmental objectives through performance management of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and people.

To succeed you must hold:

  • The appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are achievable through the following combination of education, work experience and training:
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in an FDA-regulated or controlled manufacturing environment, preferably dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals or food.
  • 3+ years' experience in food safety and sanitation preferred.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly during shift
