Project Title
Project Lexie, Project FAST and Daily Helpdesk Support
Project Overview
This internship project will focus on Project Lexie, Project FAST, and daily Helpdesk support. The two interns will assist the IT team in the rollout of 350 new laptops and desktops for employees (Project Lexie), help set up IT infrastructure in a newly acquired building (Project FAST), and shadow the IT team while handling simpler Helpdesk tickets. The interns will gain hands-on experience in IT operations, data migration, network infrastructure, and user support.
- Project Lexie: The interns will primarily assist in the deployment of 350 laptops and desktops, which involves data backup, imaging computers, restoring user settings, physically swapping out the old systems, and troubleshooting any issues that arise. This process is estimated to take 8 hours per computer.
- Project FAST: The interns will shadow the IT team during the setup of the new building's IT infrastructure, including network cabling, Wi-Fi access point installation, MDF/IDF setups, and conference room technology. They will mainly assist with the physical relocation of employee IT hardware to the new building and setting it up once the infrastructure is complete.
- Helpdesk Support: The interns will also assist the IT team in handling simpler Helpdesk tickets, such as troubleshooting printing problems, password resets, installing peripheral devices (e.g., wireless mouse, keyboard), and other basic IT support tasks. This will allow the interns to learn the fundamentals of IT support and gain experience with common workplace IT issues.
Reporting Structure and Support The interns will report directly to the IT Department Manager and work closely with the senior IT staff. They will receive continuous mentorship, shadowing the IT team and supporting both Project Lexie and Project FAST. In addition to these projects, the interns will also be involved in first-level IT support, working on Helpdesk tickets to help resolve simple issues while learning the basics of IT operations.
