As an Engineer (Pilot Operations) supporting R&D in Fort Worth, TX,you will be trusted to help ensure current aseptic operations in the R&D cleanroom are in compliance with regulatory, cGMP, and Alcon Quality requirements. This person is responsible for new prototype fabrication for clinical and pre-clinical application. This role supports the day-to-day coordination of new product accountabilities, coordinates and monitors work direction to maintain productivity and ensures compliance with standards. Responsibilities include strategic execution to meet daily/weekly deadlines. This role also assists in supporting the new product development and implementation of new products, processes, materials and equipment into the pilot facility. This role will assist executing all aspects of formulation from lab to pilot-scale; and assist in defining manufacturing-scale processes.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Execute R&D prototype fabrication under aseptic conditions independently following procedures established by R&D technical leads.

  • Follow instructions from pilot manager to assist R&D new product development, including formulation and material fabrication, sample testing and documentation under design control and Alcon's quality system.

  • Assist and/or lead in writing fabrication protocols, batch records, reports and related documentations.

  • Assist in lab management, pilot line development and qualification as well as preventive maintenance.

  • Have knowledge and experiences in operating under aseptic conditions.

  • Have knowledge of the laboratory instruments, pilot line equipment and clean room requirements

  • Have knowledge and experiences in larger scale (pilot and manufacturing) processes.

  • Have strong knowledge and experiences in GDP, GMP requirements, and perform with high quality.

  • Have knowledge and experiences in formulation preparation, familiar with related equipment, such as preparing solutions, emulsions, and gel, at manufacturing scale, knowledge in lab and pilot scale is desired.

  • Conducting testing following established methodology, and release and package products based on pre-determined specification, acceptance criteria.

  • Assist in calibration, qualification, preventive maintenance and other related tasks.

  • Assist in maintaining and management of aseptic facility, utility and pilot equipment.

  • Assist in create and maintain raw materials, formulation, product management system, such as order suppliers, inventory control, preventive maintenance of the lab and pilot line.

  • Stay focused at tasks, effectively manage time to support daily priorities of R&D activities.

  • Be pro-active, positive, ability to work under pressure and handle multiple assignments.

What You'll Bring to Alcon:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
