The Leadership Development Manager is responsible for the overall strategy, development, and implementation of a suite of leadership programs and offerings in the AAMC leadership development portfolio, and leads the research, scoping and proposal process for new programs and offerings. This position collaborates with team members and other units to establish business development strategies, marketing and communication plans, and learning design and delivery solutions that differentiate the AAMC's leadership programs as the leading resource of leadership development for its members. Strategic Planning
- Articulate the vision and strategy for a major product line in the AAMC's leadership development portfolio.
- Drive the development and growth of a suite of leadership programs targeted for faculty, professional staff and/or medical students and residents working in academic medical centers.
- Partner with the business development team to develop strategies and plans for expansion of leadership development offerings and to identify, develop and realize revenue opportunities within the leadership development portfolio.
- Lead the proposal development, scoping and implementation of new programs as well as re-tool current offerings to align with the overall leadership development strategy.
- Develop strategies for re-inventing the delivery of learning content in ways that differentiate the AAMC as the leading source of leadership development for its members.
- Provide thought leadership to the team and organization on leadership and program management.
Portfolio Management
- Establish annual goals and targets for a major product line in the AAMC leadership development portfolio.
- Oversee the entire program lifecycle from development through evaluation and refinement. Emphasis on continuous improvement and program sustainability as well as succession planning.
- Create, evolve, and deliver a portfolio of leadership programs, in various modalities, tailored for faculty, staff, and learners at the university and executive level.
- Manage all aspects of a suite of leadership programs including staffing, oversight of project teams, learning design and development work, faculty relationships, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
- Determine the prioritization and rollout schedule for the development, revision, and maintenance of a suite of leadership programs.
- Oversee planning, budgeting, problem-solving, and marketing efforts to ensure program success and financial goals are met.
- Partner with the AAMC's learning evaluation and marketing teams to establish and complete a plan for assessing and communicating the impact of leadership development programs.
- Conduct evaluations and SWOT analyses, track metrics, and identify trends and improvement opportunities for leadership development programs.
- Develop and cultivate internal and external relationships, cross-functional teams, and partnerships that further advance the quality and relevance of AAMC leadership programs in the academic medicine community.
- Support instructional design in creating comprehensive instructional materials, including lesson plans, facilitator guides, and participant materials for both online and in-person training programs. This includes content development and reviewing for quality assurance.
- Identify and onboard subject matter experts, speakers, and consultants for program initiatives.
Supervision of Others
- Hire, supervise and retain outstanding talent to support the program development and management of leadership programs.
- Mentor program leaders and program specialists in the development and management of programs, related internal processes, and constituent relationship building.
- Provide strategic oversight and drive accountability of project teams working on leadership programs.
- Help lead Member, Learning and Engagement (MLE) cluster efforts and build a culture of belonging at the AAMC.
Essential Duty Requirement
Engage actively and contribute as needed to all required and optional organizational meetings, events, and initiatives, including those related to finance, human resources, communications, and facilities. Examples include but are not limited to Town Hall meetings, process and software training sessions, and accurate timekeeping. Supervisory Responsibility: This position will have 1-2 direct reports, supervise internal cross-cluster project teams and external contractors.
Supervision Received: Works independently with general supervision
Contribution Level: Contributing through Others Decision Making: This position has significant decision making autonomy in decisions about policies, strategy and resources for programs in their portfolio and those of their direct reports. This position's decisions impacts the leadership development portfolio. Organizational Impact: This position has significant organizational impact in that it is a very visible position with key interactions with constituents and program faculty. This role is involved in developing and implementing strategy for revenue generating programs.
What you'll bring to the role
- Master's degree required
- 8 - 10 years of related work experience
- 1 - 3 years of supervisory experience
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of related experience in learning, program management and/or leadership development.
- Experience with and an understanding of healthcare, academic medicine, and/or nonprofit organizations.
- Extensive knowledge of leadership products and services
- Experience interacting with executive level partners.
- A track record of being entrepreneurial and growth oriented.
- Significant experience with program or product line management, developing proposals, and establishing business plans in the leadership development or learning/training space.
- Master's degree in Education, Organizational Development, Industrial or Organizational Psychology, Leadership, Instructional Design, Behavioral Science, Communication or a related field is preferred. Years of related experience may substitute for Master's degree preference

Remote Work Eligibility
This position is eligible for remote work in the contiguous US
Compensation Grade Range
$124,950.00-$147,000.00
Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors may include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, as well as internal equity, market, and business considerations. If a bachelor's degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions. One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
