Overview
Medical Oncology Hematology Consultants (MOHC) is currently seeking a Controller to advise up-line management regarding the practice management financial programs in our multi-site organization. The Controller assists in determining financial goals for the various operating units, analyzes and reports variances and maintains general ledger and related systems for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll. He/she develops management reports, coordinates and monitors financial budgets, and ensures financial reporting is in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops systems and monitors compliance with the various company/Practice agreements, including the Management Services Agreement
- Provides support to department managers, practice administration and physicians in the preparation, understanding and use of financial information.
- Ensure adherence to all established accounting and revenue cycle policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Prepare and approve journal entries with adequate support for month-end and periodic needs
- Ensure that various fiscal deadlines are met, and appropriate data is provided
- Provide leadership to central and regional business offices for activities such as billing, adjustments, refunds, reporting, accounts receivable aging, corrections, and month-end close
- Ensure adequate documentation, review, and execution of internal controls as required by SOX. Initiate and complete necessary remediation actions
- Report monthly financial results to key stakeholders with analysis of key performance indicators and explanation of variances
- Investigate and identify the causation of variances in financial statements with accuracy
- Present financials at physician meetings, board meetings, and finance committee meetings
- Develop robust reporting packages as requested by management and physicians
- Implement and maintain controls on monthly drug inventory counts and transfers
- Prepare the annual budget and communicate with key operational, physician, and centralized support counterparts
- Develop long-term financial strategies aligned with the organization's goals and conduct financial modeling to support strategic initiatives
- Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Ensure adequate insurance coverage for the practice and its assets
- Manage tax compliance and planning for the practice
- Propose improvements and efficiencies in accounting and finance operations
- Perform ad hoc and pro forma analyses as needed
- Oversees operating, capital and cash flow budgets and assists ED/PA in exercising control to ensure expenditures do not exceed budgetary limits and are in compliance with Management Service Agreement and all related agreements
- Enter all approved capital requisitions
- Act as a liaison between McKesson Specialty Health and local operations for process implementation and control
- Participate in the development of practice objectives
- Develops and maintains a professional department that assists the organization toward its goal of improving cost-effectiveness of health care delivery
- Supervise and mentor assigned accounting staff

Qualifications
Position requires:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (with appropriate experience)
- Practice Management/Health Services experience
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least three years managing others
- Strong foundation in accounting required, but candidates also demonstrating strong analytical/FP&A experience preferred
- CPA and/or MBA preferred
- 3+ years public accounting experience preferred
- Hybrid role in Newark, DE. Work in-person as required (month-end close, physician/board meetings, etc.). Must reside within driving distance (i.e. greater Philadelphia to Baltimore, MD)
- Travel between sites as needed is expected
