Under the direction of the Executive Director, responsible for all aspects of the Academic & Staff Assistance Programs (ASAP) at both campus and Health, including program planning, service provision and evaluation, personnel matters, utilization of resources, customer satisfaction, and all other management functions. Provide direction, assistance, and consultation to clinical and support staff. Work in collaboration with other Human Resource (HR) units and employee support services to assist and problem solve with all units within the university as appropriate on faculty and staff concerns when personal and/or interpersonal issues interfere with work performance. Provide input on university policy and practice matters, including mental health, substance abuse, violence prevention, employee stress, work productivity, and satisfaction. Serve as a mental health expert on the Medical Staff Well-Being Committee, Workplace Violence Prevention Advisory Council, and emergency response mental health plan for faculty, staff, and administration. Collaborate with management for psychoeducational and organizational issues involving mental well-being and productivity of UCD/UCDH employees.
Campus Job Scope: This position is responsible for overseeing one comprehensive program with two separate and distinct workgroups of licensed mental health professionals and support staff who provide mental health services and programming for faculty, staff, and their adult family members on the main campus in Davis and the medical center campus in Sacramento. These are two very different environments with different cultures and different needs. Scope of responsibility also includes immediate response to emergencies involving campus community members in both settings, and coordination of services with campus and community support agencies as well as UCD/UCDH administration.
Department Specific Job Scope: Directs 12 employees and subsequent resources across both Health and Campus for the Academic and Staff Assistance Program which offers confidential, cost-free assessment, intervention, consultation and referral services to all UC Davis and UC Davis Health faculty, staff and their immediate families.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Valid California Psychology License through the California Board of Psychology
- Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and licensed in the State of California for the last 3 years.
- Three years of experience in an employee assistance program, preferably with leadership or administrative responsibilities.
- Experience in maintaining a high degree of discretion, integrity, and responsibility regarding confidentiality and privacy.
- Experience in the principles and practice of business management to manage and oversee operational resources effectively and ethically.
- Experience in supervision/leadership and human resource management to hire, assign and direct work, evaluate and reward performance, transfer or promote, suspend layoff/recall, discharge, or otherwise discipline career staff employees.
- Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to interact clearly and effectively with a diverse group of individuals to secure and/or provide information to clarify situations, resolve problems, develop and provide relevant training, and negotiate services and/or agreements.
- Skills necessary to provide effective and appropriate individual and/or group counseling; work effectively and sensitively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives to foster mutual respect, fairness, and equity.
- Skills necessary to provide constructive and effective supervision of employees and/or student interns.
- Skills to serve as a consultant and liaison with employees, management, staff, faculty, administration and other campus and community resources.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and APA regulations and records maintenance.
- Skills to manage fiscal, space, and technology resources.
- Skills to perform needs assessments, program design and implementation, and customer satisfaction surveys.
