Pharmacy Technician

Schedule: Variable day and night shifts available, 10-hour shifts

Your role with us

As a pharmacy technician at Salem Health, you will support our pharmacy team by accurately preparing and delivering medications, managing inventory, and assisting patients and healthcare professionals with their pharmaceutical needs. You will work closely with pharmacists to ensure seamless patient care, maintain precise records and contribute to the efficient operation of our pharmacy services. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills and excellent communication abilities.

What you'll do

• Fills and label bags according to physicians'/computer generated label.
• Initiates deliveries of all medications and IVs as needed.
• Accurately stock DEA controlled substances and non-controlled medications into omnicell dispensing machines.
• Routinely assist the pharmacist in the admixture of IV piggybacks, large volume solutions and irrigations.
• Assist customers in person and/or by phone and refers inquiries to the pharmacist.
• Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock.
• Organizes medications and coordinates with pharmacist(s) for patient consultation.
• Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients or departments.
• Maintains records by recording and filing physicians' orders and prescriptions.

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• State of Oregon certified pharmacy technician licensure.
• National pharmacy technician licensure required through the NHA (National Healthcareer Association) or PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) within one year from date of hire.
