West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech) is a divisional campus of West Virginia University (WVU) focused on four-year undergraduate education. We are located in Beckley, West Virginia, near the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, world-class whitewater rafting, and other outdoor recreation activities. WVU Tech is currently inviting applications for the following employment opportunity: The Department of Biology in the School of Arts and Sciences seeks to hire a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The ability to start January 1, 2026, is a plus but applicants who cannot start until August 2026 will be considered. Primary teaching responsibilities will be lecture and laboratory courses in General Biology. Other teaching responsibilities may include Developmental Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Vertebrate Embryology or other classes depending on departmental needs and successful applicant's areas of expertise. Other duties include program assessment, service on committees, academic advising, outreach, and curriculum development including developing new upper division elective courses. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program involving undergraduate students. Qualifications
Must have a Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in biology, biomedical sciences or related discipline. Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience teaching two or more of the courses noted above at the undergraduate level. Must have expertise in integrating learning management systems into their courses. Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as a commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring are required. Development of a research program in the candidate's area of expertise that incorporates undergraduate students is required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
