Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school and two years of experience in preparing for and conducting radiology and maintaining patient records and files or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Job Functions
Perform skilled technical work in the administration of radiologic procedures used for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
Nationally Board Certified by ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist).
Preferred, additional experience in performing phlebotomy and EKGs.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to perform radiology studies and facilitate information gathering to bill insurance.
Ability to or willing to learn to perform phlebotomy and EKGs.

Required Functional Competencies to Successfully Perform Job Duties.
Coordination-Work:

  • Have readily available all machine operating manuals and contact information for companies if service on x-ray equipment is required.
  • Compares clinician's readings with the radiologist readings.
  • When necessary assist clinicians with appropriate needed exam for the patient.
  • Assist the clinicians with the correct anatomy visualized on the radiographs.
  • Awareness of budget restrictions and supply usage.
  • Maintain a log of radiology techs repeats for quality assurance.
  • Prepares and keeps a log of clinician discrepancies for future reviews.
  • Maintains an updated technique chart for radiology exams.
  • Provides and oversees techs use of radiation monitoring devices.
  • Maintains reports of monitoring devices available for radiology staff, health service director, state or AAAHC Inspector.
  • Inspect and keep records of lead aprons quarterly.
  • Follow recommended equipment preventive maintenance program.
  • Use of lead shielding to patient when appropriate.
  • Checks the history of female patients for last LMP and pregnancy.
  • Inspects all equipment in the x-ray area for patient safety.


Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Researches issues related to abnormal test results; assists in resolving issues related to variations or discrepancies in the data.
  • Develops and implements new procedures for film management and file maintenance.
  • Provides analysis of complex data and/or data from highly specialized tests; interprets study results and discusses preliminary findings with higher level professional in the field of study.

Patient Care:

  • Maintain an updated list of requested views for radiology exams, set forth by radiologists or any sports team physicians.
  • Performs special views or exams when requested by the radiologist or sports team physicians.
  • Documents female patients LMP or chance of pregnancy on the EMR consult form.
  • Review ways to achieve better work flow in the radiology department.

  • Maintain a pool of PRN Techs to ensure coverage when regular technologist is absent.
  • Have all radiology policies and procedures readily available for reference.
  • Encourage the use of sponges and wedges for the patient to achieve desired and appropriate positions for exams.
  • Keep repeats and re-takes of x-rays to a minimum.
  • When training of new radiology staff, ensure the understanding of correct patient instruction by emphasis on the following: introduction, explanation of the exam that will be performed, explanation of what to expect after radiographs are completed.
  • Always use lead shielding when it will not interfere with the radiology exam.

Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity and market considerations.
