The College of Medicine is also an academic and clinical affiliate of Baptist Health and Nicklaus Childrens Hospital. The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) at Florida International University (FIU) seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level. The position will be responsible for providing specialty medical care and demonstrate skills consistent with the delineation of privileges approved by the Quality Improvement, Patient Safety Committee and Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine. This role will be specializing in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, and metabolic bone diseases, as well as hormone-related and electrolyte disorders. The ideal candidate will be proficient in managing diabetic medications and insulin therapies, including continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps, and experienced in treating obesity and weight disorders. Additional responsibilities include interpreting bone density studies, performing point-of-care ultrasounds, and conducting fine-needle aspirations of thyroid nodules. The role also involves ordering and interpreting specialized endocrine labs, providing timely consults to referring providers, and actively participating in the education of medical students and residents during outpatient endocrine rotations. Candidates should be committed to quality improvement initiatives and providing constructive feedback and evaluations to trainees and program leadership. Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a terminal degree in medical sciences (MD or DO). Must be board certified or board eligible and be able to obtain board certification within one (1) year of employment by the American Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. Must have a valid and unrestricted Florida medical license or be able to obtain a medical license in the state of Florida before beginning employment. Desired Qualifications
Completed an Internal Medicine residency and Endocrinology fellowship at an accredited ACGME institution. Have a valid American Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology (or board eligible). Valid DEA license and BLS certification. Job Category
