Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Spatial Data Scientist to analyze mission-critical GEOINT data in support of AOEA's area of responsibility. This role requires expertise in leveraging diverse spatial data types-raster, vector, web services, and more-to deliver actionable insights that inform data strategy and enhance intelligence operations. The ideal candidate will drive spatial and spatio-temporal statistical analysis, develop data exposure strategies, and facilitate migration of legacy datasets to improve accessibility and usability across the Intelligence Community.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and execute data strategies that meet AOEA mission requirements. Utilize industry-standard technologies and visualization tools to support diverse line of business missions. Perform advanced spatial analytics on structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data to derive meaningful insights. Maintain, migrate, and manipulate data between applications and NGA domains ensuring data quality and lifecycle management. Administer computerized databases including design, production, conversion, migration, and quality assurance. Manage data transfer, loading, and sharing in compliance with government policies and administrative procedures. Forecast database administration needs in collaboration with business and information systems managers. Identify emerging technologies and represent the office in technology forums and meetings. Conduct data mining and conditioning to support mission requirements. Apply knowledge of digital imagery processes as needed. Prepare reports, briefings, presentations, and documentation to support management and operational activities.
Required Skills and Experience:
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills across organizational boundaries. Bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, science, or related technical field, or 4+ years of relevant experience. Expert-level proficiency with MS Office and data mining techniques. Experience developing, manipulating, and maintaining databases. Proficiency with spatial software such as ArcGIS suite and Tableau, especially for spatial statistical analysis and visualization of intelligence data. Knowledge of Geospatial Policies and data handling restrictions, including cross-domain data movement and sharing with IC partners. Working knowledge of statistical software such as R or similar tools.
Desired Skills:
Experience identifying system enhancement opportunities and new capabilities. Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work effectively as part of highly skilled technical teams. Familiarity with NGA's Geospatial Policies, including International Policy, Co-Production, and data dissemination. Bachelor's degree or higher in statistics, mathematics, image science, remote sensing, earth science, physical science, or a related field is preferred.
