JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State is searching for a full time Stock Selector - Truck Driver - Grade 7 to join the team. Duties include:
  • Assemble orders from requisitions or as directed; adjust weights and sizes to reflect case weights
  • Load supplies onto trucks; verify each item against requisition to ensure condition and accuracy of count and weight
  • Load and unload staples, perishables, furniture, equipment, meat, and bakery items, etc. carefully according to type to avoid tipping or damage in transit; handle meat lugs, cabinets and shipping basket with care to prevent unusual wear and tear
  • Drive departmental truck to deliver food and supplies promptly and accurately to University Park or Commonwealth Campus locations according to schedule; return empty containers to the Food Stores Building; obtain signature of receiving agent when goods are loaded; pick up and deliver supplies and materials to various residence and dining halls
  • Drive truck to pick up supplies and equipment from manufactures and vendors, as needed
  • Check truck readiness prior to operating including but not limited to checking truck tires, fluids, lights and brakes
  • Drive carefully being particularly alert when backing up to unloading dock
  • Observe traffic regulations
  • Pick up various items from various campus locations as directed and deliver
  • Occasionally Pick up and deliver items locally
  • Deliver interdepartmental mail as directed
  • Unload freight
  • Check and store incoming supplies and equipment; operate electric lift truck, hand truck, hand jacks, and similar equipment
  • Assist in taking physical inventory, as required; spot-check inventory as requested
  • Perform general cleaning in building area; make simple mechanical adjustment on various items of equipment
  • Detect any unusual conditions and report to supervisor
  • Perform other duties related or similar to the type described above

Job Requirements: Requires the use of commercial English, grammar and arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments, graduates and the like requiring interpretation in their various applications; or the posting, preparation, interpretation, use and checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data. Requires a Pennsylvania Commercial Driver`s License (CDL) Class B. Over 3 months up to and including 12 months of effective experience.

Work Schedule:7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Days Off:Saturday, Sunday

Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License Class B - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This position is subject to federal Department of Transportation testing for alcohol and controlled substances (49 CFR PART 40), and physical examination requirements as per PA. CODE 231.85. Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
