Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Pricing in a remote-first environment with headquarters located in Arlington, VA and Huntsville, AL. The Director of Pricing must have in-depth knowledge and understanding of price modeling, strategies, processes and methodologies and be able to provide insights and guidance to the team and senior management in execution of cost proposals, competitive analysis, price to win, and risk management. Works directly for the VP of Pricing and supports multiple Division Presidents and proposal pricing needs within the particular missions of those Divisions. Will also be required to work closely with our VP of Pricing, Chief Growth Officer and VP of Proposal Management to strategize proposal pricing responses. This position will also lead a team of analysts supporting a subset of divisions within the corporate organizational structure.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Minimum of a BA/BS Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance or related field and 12+ years of experience in Federal Government pricing and finance, proposal development and federal contracting with 6+ years of direct management experience. May substitute AA/AS Degree and 14+ years.

  • Experience with Advanced Complex Excel Modeling and various Salary Data Information such as ERI, Salary.com and GS equivalents in labor categories

  • Experience with Proposal Cost Narrative writing/development and justifications

  • Ability to understand and validate proposal price volume deliverables and nuances of customer language and habits

  • Experience working with all phases of solicitation processes such as request for information (RFI), RFP responses and negotiations with a strong emphasis in structuring deals in the Pre-RFP stage

  • In depth knowledge of all contract types including FFP, CPFF, CPAF and T&M and the key pricing outcomes for the organization when bidding these types

  • Advanced knowledge of Government Cost Accounting Principles and FAR Part 31

  • Ability to confidently and independently brief details of pricing modeling used in the RFP to Senior Management to justify our winning strategy

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • DOD experience highly desired

  • Strong executive presence & experience working with executives and senior management required

  • Experience with audit agencies preferred

  • Experience integrating functionality of MS Business Systems (Power Pivot, Power BI, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Copilot) to everyday tasks, communication, and pricing related objectives

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handles multiple tasks in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment.

  • Performs advanced business and management tasks independently while leading a team of analysts and implementing process driven improvements and efficiencies.

  • Prepare timely, accurate and compliant cost and business proposals in response to customer requests with particular emphasis on evaluation and execution strategy. This director position is a working management role, operating both as an independent contributor and leader.

  • Participates in the proposal pricing process to include:

    • Develops complex cost models and detailed cost narratives based on the RFP requirements

    • Develops pricing strategy; quantifies pricing risks, calculates effective operational margins, influences competitive pricing approaches.

    • Works closely with Capture Manager, Technical Staff and other functional departments to ensure accuracy and coordination of cost proposals

    • Reviews, analyzes, and compiles labor and subcontract cost data; Analyzes estimates of labor, material, equipment, and other direct costs, analyzes estimates against previous cost experience and recommend adjustments; prepares cost volumes

    • Leads pricing reviews with executive management and coordinates with senior staff to determine pricing structure and strategy

  • Supports audits and participates in cost proposal clarifications or negotiations

  • Utilizes and improves processes and tools that result in compliant/quality pricing proposal and supports estimating system audits.
