Summary:
The Slabicki and Miller Lab at the MGH Krantz Family Center for Cancer Research is focused on expanding the druggable proteome to improve treatments for patients with myelodysplastic syndromes and leukemia. We are part of the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and collaborate closely with other MGH departments and the Cancer Program at the Broad Institute. We are seeking a highly motivated, exceptionally organized, and detail-oriented individual who is eager to learn. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills essential for troubleshooting experimental challenges. Our lab uses a team-based, interdisciplinary approach, working with researchers from diverse backgrounds, so excellent communication and teamwork skills are a must. This Bioinformatics Analyst position involves processing a variety of datasets generated in the lab, along with publicly available data. It's an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in biostatistics or bioinformatics who are interested in working at the intersection of research and clinical medicine. This is a full-time position with potential for professional growth. Responsible for combining research in biology, medicine, and health-related studies with information technology in order to collect and interpret data covering a range of fields, such as genetics or pharmaceutics. They create mathematical models, develop dynamic simulations, and perform pattern analyses of biological systems. Essential Functions:
Assist in the analysis of biological data using bioinformatics tools and software.
Perform data processing, quality control, and database maintenance.
Collaborate with research teams to understand their data analysis needs.
Support the development and implementation of data analysis pipelines.
Conduct basic statistical analyses and data visualization.
Participate in the interpretation and presentation of results.
Working under very general supervision, the Bioinformatics Analyst will have demonstrated independent design and innovation in one or more of the following areas of specialization: algorithm development, data analysis, quality assurance/testing, pipeline software/computing development, user interface design & report development, web-based application development, or report development.
