Description

Hourly Rate: $17- $20 per hour

Position Summary: Children's Aid-Dunlevy Milbank Center, a community center located in Harlem, is recruiting college students to work as a Coach in our After-School/Summer Camp Program. Our program provides recreational and educational activities in the afternoons to children ages 5-14 years old. The Center is a warm and nurturing place for children to be after school where children can continue to learn, play and socialize with friends.

Essential Duties:

* Supervise and create a safe and nurturing environment for a group of children ages 5-14 years old

* Oversee Powerhour (homework help) (After-School ONLY)

* Work in a team environment

* Keep accurate daily attendance records

* Maintain proper care of games and recreational equipment

* Participate in activities (e.g. swimming, dance, art, triple play etc.)

* Organize and plan daily group activities

* Make sure all parents & guardians sign out

* Make assessments and appropriate social service referrals to supervisor

* Request supplies and equipment needed for group activities

* Daily Lesson Planning

* Building positive relationships with all participants

* Participating in all training off and on site

* Adhere to policy and procedures of CAS Dunlevy Milbank Center

Minimum Qualifications:

* Must be 18 years old and older

* High School diploma required

Key Competencies:

* Ability to demonstrate of planning skills and program facilitation skills.

* Understand the developmental needs of children ranging in age from 5 to 14 years old.

* Ability to carry out art, sports, and various educational and representational programs.

* Be a team player.

* Be able to work 5 days from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 6:00pm.

* Enthusiastic and motivated
