Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Mental Health Program Shift Lead will be responsible for the oversight of all assigned staff within the residential unit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provide direct oversight to all professional staff within the assigned residential setting
* Ensure the provision of services to each resident according to the assessments and recovery plan
* Assist Supervisor with scheduling for 24 hours of day residential coverage
* Attend necessary meetings relative to individual's treatment recovery supports and services as directed by supervisor
* Make recommendations to the Unit Manager/Director regarding new service needs, programmatic changes, quality of care and documentation
* Develop and maintain professional, therapeutic relationships with residents, families, outside agencies, and supervisors, to the extent possible
* Assist in the implementation of small group counseling sessions with residents and/or families
* Provide clinical support in assisting residents in meeting needs of community integration
* Implement training and in-service to staff and maintain related in-service records, as needed
* Execute all procedures regarding record keeping for residents
* Advocate for maximum social, academic, emotional, and vocational opportunities for residents
* Ensure all safety codes are followed and enforced
* Cooperate within an interdisciplinary team approach to ensure quality programming
* Work closely with Unit Manager/Director regarding program concerns
* Provide quality assurance functions as assigned
* Provide direct service as required; assist individuals with basic life skills including but not limited to menu planning, food shopping and preparation following special eating plans as appropriate, household cleaning and care, laundry, personal hygiene and budgeting
* Perform basic healthcare functions such as obtaining vital signs, weight and glucometer readings as directed by the medical professional
* Transport and escort individuals to appointments and community activities safely
* Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), crisis intervention and medication administration using agency-trained protocols
* Perform other duties as assigned

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Unit Manager/Director

DIRECT REPORTS: N/A

CONTACTS: Residents, staff, funding sources, Department of Human Services (DHS), Social Security, other social services agencies, Base Service Units, families, county representatives and advocacy groups.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
* High school diploma or equivalency required, additional college credits in human services preferred
* One (1) year in the mental health field desirable
* Supervisory experience preferred
* Experience with drug and alcohol recovery programs, helpful
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Must be able to perform CPR, crisis intervention and medication administration techniques using agency-trained protocols
* Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record
