Elwyn is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) to join our team. In this fulfilling role, you'll play a vital role in supporting young adults and older adults with severe mental illness on their unique paths to wellness. You'll leverage your lived experience and professional skills to provide therapeutic support, facilitate peer groups, and advocate for consumer needs.
Here's what you'll do:

  • Empower Recovery: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop personalized Individual Action Plans (IAPs) focusing on mental health, daily living skills, physical well-being, and social connections.
  • Facilitate Peer Support: Organize and lead peer groups and activities that foster empowerment, social interaction, and a sense of belonging.
  • Be a Role Model: Share your recovery journey to inspire hope, resilience, and self-belief in others.
  • Advocate for Consumers: Ensure access to necessary resources, address concerns, and champion consumer needs.
  • Promote Recovery-Based Care: Integrate trauma-informed practices and the Prism Model for effective treatment into daily interactions.
  • Maintain Positive Environment: Cultivate a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused atmosphere that fosters healing and growth.
To thrive in this role, you'll possess:
  • A lived experience with mental illness and at least one year of active recovery (self-attested).
  • High school diploma or GED (Bachelor's degree in Human Services a plus).
  • Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) credential with excellent communication and writing skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping others and a commitment to recovery-oriented care.
  • Crisis intervention experience and a willingness to participate in ongoing training.
