Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Commercial Real Estate Loan Portfolio Manager. This role is crucial in managing a $7+ billion commercial real estate loan portfolio and contributing to the overall success of our commercial mortgage loan department. The ideal candidate will work closely with the manager and department team members to effectively manage a large and growing portfolio in an ever-changing environment.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Perform ongoing monitoring of existing holdings, including complex data mining and trend analysis on the portfolio.
  • Develop custom reports, including ad hoc investment committee and board reports.
  • Manage correspondent relationships and maintain a high level of professional service. Lead the onboarding of new servicer relationships and manage the transfer of business as needed.
  • Evaluate and respond to correspondents on complex loan requests. Act as the business owner and engage with the internal legal team and other department members to collaboratively resolve issues and properly document and close transactional requests.
  • Manage escrow releases, ensuring proper documentation and that monies are spent as intended .
  • Identify potential borrower and collateral stress and recommend protective mitigants. Coordinate the documentation and implementation of remedial plans and monitor recovery progress.
  • Calculate make-whole provisions as prescribed in the legal documents.
  • Perform the review of annual loan submissions and analyze collateral financial results. Maintain accurate and up-to-date system data pertaining to debt coverage ratios and loan-to-value measurements.
  • Perform the Risk-Based Capital analysis of Schedule B assets used for regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain the asset class watchlist and make recommendations on category designations.
  • Perform various auditing and accounting requests related to the commercial mortgage portfolio.
  • Support technology and modernization initiatives, promote creative ideas and solutions, and contribute to improvement projects that will best support our business and partners.
  • Serve on working groups and committees as necessary and assist in developing products and processes that will benefit our clients.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on new product development.
  • Develop and implement industry best practices for transaction closings and ongoing asset surveillance.
  • Manage change by fostering an environment that promotes creative ideas and solutions.
  • Perform related activities as directed and manage self-development to prepare for new responsibilities and challenges.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in commercial real estate lending or servicing.
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree; and/or relevant industry certifications.
  • Organizational and project management skills to work under pressure, prioritize competing deadlines and make independent decisions in a constantly changing environment.
  • Strong math, analytical and critical thinking skills to handle complex investment transactions.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to establish and maintain effective interaction with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to understand and explain legal and financial concepts and translate data to multiple systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, Precision Loan Management software, BOX.com, SQL, Tableau

  • Engagement in industry affiliations and working groups

*This position aligns to our Business Operations job family. We will consider candidates at the P2 (Business Operations Sr. Analyst) and P3 (Business Operations Consultant) level for this opening based on the applicant's background and experience as it relates to this position.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$69,500.00 - $129,000.00

Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
