  • We are hiring immediately for a full time PLUMBER position.
  • Location: USF MN OAS - 4202 East Fowler Avenue, Tampa, FL 33620. (Openings at other locations within school district available) Note: online applications accepted only.
  • Schedule: Full time schedule; Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; more details upon interview.
  • Requirement: Previous plumbing experience is required.
  • Pay Range: $19.20 per hour to $22.20 per hour

Job Summary

Summary:Plumber I is responsible for repairs and maintenance of Plumbing Systems and provides support services to other trades. A variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance duties are performed to carry out the essential functions of this position, and the technician should have experience and/or training in plumbing systems. The technician may also be responsible for escorting and supervising contractor activities occurring on campus as requested by the supervisor. Begin and complete Level One Plumbing curriculum and demonstrate competency therein.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preventatively maintains, inspects, and repairs, sinks, traps, commodes, floor drains, urinals, and flush valves, safety showers, drinking fountains, water heaters, point of use water filters, and reverse osmosis systems.
  • Replace batteries on automatic bathroom devices and equipment
  • Preventively maintain and inspect potable water piping and equipment for buildings.
  • Repair all discharge piping by opening clogs and obstructions
  • Cutting, sweating/soldering, welding, and assembling pipes, tubes, fittings, and fixtures
  • Water intrusion investigations/mitigations (roof, window, and plumbing)
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them using repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
  • Exercise shut-off valves and shut off water to locations within the building as needed. Assist with posting boil water notices.
  • Provide support services to other trades (as required) for timely and efficient repair of buildings and/or equipment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 8 years (minimum) of training and work experience, including 4 years in a DOL accredited Apprentice Program plus 4 years working as a Journeyman Plumber.
  • Must have a valid Master's Plumbing license as well as proof of a valid RMP endorsement.
  • Must possess a valid Class "C" driver's license.
  • Rudimentary ability to utilize hand-operated construction equipment.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop and perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions:

  • Some exposure to elevated degrees of high heat, noise, dust, dirt and/or areas requiring infection control. Requires meeting deadlines for completion of work on a daily basis. Must be able to work all hours, including weekends and nights, as necessary, in order to maintain facility at the appropriate and safe level.
