At Forvis Mazars, we view state taxes as an opportunity to save. We look for savings in state and local taxes (SALT). Our SALT team has extensive training in tax accounting, tax law, compliance, audits, and economic development benefits, and experience with the tax laws in many states. Our SALT solutions apply to sales and use taxes, income and franchise taxes, property taxes, credits and incentives, and many more thorough understandings of multi-state sales & use taxes.
How you will contribute:
  • Being well-versed in sales & use tax returns
  • Identifying optimal filing options
  • Analyzing and reviewing apportionment information
  • Consistently identifying engagement and operating opportunities for improvement and provide timely solutions and consultation
  • Understanding nexus and revenue sourcing issues
  • Managing multiple concurrent engagements without disruption or loss of control and within scheduled deadlines
  • Planning and researching tax issues
  • Managing multiple client relationships, billings, and resource needs
  • Preparing technical memorandums
  • Providing audit assistance
  • Assisting with state income tax & sales/use tax compliance
  • Assisting in managing, developing, and coaching professional staff
We are looking for people who have Forward Vision and:

  • High-level analytical and reasoning skills
  • Ability to meet the stringent deadlines of our clients
  • Understanding of client service relationships and how to utilize firm resources to provide unmatched client service to existing clients
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 8-10 years or more of professional experience - public accounting experience is required, but the experience can include a combination of public accounting (tax) and/or industry
  • CPA license or J.D. and/or L.L.M designation preferred
