Project Manager - Insurance Products (Hybrid)

The Enterprise Project Management Office at Securian Financial is looking for an experienced project manager to lead the execution of projects and initiatives within one of our insurance product lines - Individual Solutions. In this role, you would be part of a dynamic team of project managers who support the division's top initiatives and assist senior leaders in achieving their strategic goals and objectives.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Independently lead top-priority business area projects, programs, recommendations and implementations.
  • Partners with senior leadership to understand and prioritize business goals and needs to drive results.
  • Utilizes sound judgment and past experience to drive decisions related to project initiation, planning, and resource allocation by understanding the project sponsor's goals and reconciling them with input from the project team.
  • Develops, maintains and executes the project plan.
  • Assembles and leads cross-functional teams through each phase of the project. Utilizes understanding of strategic objectives to help others within and outside of the project team understand the impact of the project to broader projects and business areas.
  • Ensures execution of the project communication plan, including reporting progress to the project sponsor, management, business partners and other stakeholders. Develops strong relationships with all constituents.
  • Identifies and resolves project issues, escalating with proposed solutions to the project sponsor, as needed.
  • Works with the project sponsor or key management if project changes become necessary to determine choices, options and a recommended approach. Directs resolution of project changes by providing comprehensive research, recognition, and reconciliation to business priority, and coordination with management and other business partners.
  • Drives the projects to completion, prepares summaries, and ensures project closure activities are completed.
  • Communicates across strategies, programs and projects with key stakeholders.
  • Contributes to continuously evolving the project management and consulting capabilities and services to meet the strategic project and consulting needs of the enterprise.
  • Understands the highest priority company strategies, projects and programs through interaction with senior management utilizing an understanding of business issues, financial services and enterprise goals.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of proven project management experience
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Work effectively through ambiguity by providing structure and finding solutions.
  • Translate high-level strategies or needs, key business goals, current state processes, stakeholder perspectives, and market research into viable solutions (e.g., project structure and approach, deliverable management including future state processes, etc.).
  • Adapt to shifting priorities, resource demands, timeline pressures, deliverable changes.
  • Demonstrate strong management, organizational, planning and prioritization skills to organize and manage projects with outcome driven deliverables.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the big picture and ability to be detail-oriented.
  • Effective finesse, diplomacy, leadership, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to lead, encourage, motivate, and persuade project and program teams and internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
  • Ability to drive change and influence others.
  • Ability to build relationships, solve conflicts and gain the support of key stakeholders.
  • Proven teamwork and interpersonal skills, with experience working independently and in team-oriented, collaborative environments.
  • Working knowledge of project/program management best practices, and awareness of industry methodologies (e.g., agile, waterfall).

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$56,000.00 - $103,000.00

Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
