UNC's Arts and Sciences Foundation exists to raise philanthropic support for the highest development priorities of the College of Arts and Sciences. Under the leadership and governance of its Board of Directors, and with support from alumni and friends of the College, the Foundation works to grow and steward the College's $500 million dollar endowment. In the recent Campaign for Carolina, the Foundation team raised over $764 million in the Campaign for Carolina, exceeding its goal of $750 million. The Foundation works collaboratively with University Development and almost every other School and Unit to maximize donor giving to the greater University benefit. Every gift to the College of Arts and Sciences and the University of North Carolina makes a positive impact.

The Arts and Sciences Foundation's mission is to enhance the College by meeting the needs of its academic departments, units, and centers; promoting teaching, research and service; and supporting the continued development of knowledge and learning.
Position Summary
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement that includes three days working in the office and two days of remote work. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving will assist the Director of Annual Giving in the planning and execution of fundraising initiatives within the Office of Annual Giving. This position identifies and solicits leadership annual giving prospects for the College of Arts and Sciences.

Responsibilities include: contributing to the strategic planning process for the College of Arts and Science's comprehensive annual giving program; recommending design concepts, drafting solicitation letters or coordinating copywriting, and providing creative direction to graphic artists; collaborating with colleagues on development and implementation of email and mail appeals for departments; coordinating solicitation calendars; delivering appeals within established timelines; identifying and instructing vendors as necessary; adhering to budgets and tracking/reporting expenses; and researching and implementing best practices. The Assistant Director of Annual Giving is expected to work autonomously and use independent thought when carrying out these responsibilities.

This position will report directly to the Director of Annual Giving and would serve as the backup for the Director in lieu of the Director's absence.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with three years or greater of related professional experience; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and five years or greater of relevant experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Less than one year of directly related fundraising experience required, which could include experience in annual fund, major gifts, corporate relations, prospect management, sales or other transferable skills.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Preferred candidates will possess experience in a higher education setting along with excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills, be comfortable with alumni databases, Blackbaud software or Access databases, and have a working knowledge of computer-related office tools.

Additionally, a shown ability to multi-task, achieve goals, work independently, show good judgement when working with donors and volunteers, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, collaborative work environment. Ability to interact professionally and effectively in a comprehensive, research university setting with a wide variety of constituents, including alumni, donors, faculty, and administrators. Ability to work as an integral part of a high-achieving fundraising team in a workplace is preferred.
