Job Overview
The role of the Subject Matter Expert (SME) II-VIDS CAD (Video Information Display Systems Computer Aided Drafting) is to provide day-to-day support with experience to support the design of multiple video display systems installed on U.S. Navy ships and shore activities. SME Possess extensive knowledge and experience in CAD processes and techniques and will play a critical role in ensuring the feasibility, constructability, and effectiveness of designs that meet specified requirements. Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Working with NAVSEA, NIWC Atlantic and other technical codes the SME will support the planning, testing, and integration of complex audio-visual displays, various communication and electronic warfare systems, related ancillary and computer-based systems onboard naval ships and command centers worldwide.
- SME-CAD will support the design and development of multiple systems for U.S. Navy ships and shore activities, ensuring adherence to performance and design standards.
- Collaborate with managers, engineers, consultants, and contractors to assess and validate the feasibility and constructability of proposed designs.
- Develop intricate 3D models for prototype analysis, utilizing advanced CAD software to enhance design accuracy and efficiency.
- Create precise mechanical and conceptual drawings in AutoCAD, adhering to standard drafting practices and guidelines.
- Provide engineering assistance for design, installation, planning, testing, and integration of complex audio-visual displays, various communication systems, and related ancillary and computer-based systems onboard U.S. Naval ships and command centers.
- Interface with design teams to conduct comprehensive site surveys, evaluating current structural and electrical elements of ships and integrating findings into the redesign process.
Accountable For:
- Perform complex technical functions such as calculating weights and moments, providing engineering support in design, evaluation, planning, testing, and operation of electronic and/or computer components, equipment, and systems.
- Work from schematics, guidance drawings, illustrative diagrams, and written and verbal instructions to conduct complex engineering research, collect design data, or assist in general research work.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
- Provide engineering assistance for design, installation, planning, testing, and integration of complex audio-visual displays, various communication systems, and related ancillary and computer-based systems onboard U.S. Naval ships and command centers.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Experience working in or around industrial environments such as shipyards and Naval/Coast Guard bases and piers.
- Proven ability to conduct work in a timely and professional manner.
- Self-starter mentality with a commitment to self-education to stay current with industry trends, new technologies, equipment, and capabilities.
- Strong communication skills to keep managers and supervisors informed of progress while maintaining the ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Commitment to adhering to contract requirements and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Recognized expert status in C4ISR systems with demonstrated leadership in the industry and public service.
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.
Preferred:
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
- Associate's degree in marine engineering technology or equivalent experience.
Working Conditions:
- Position may be exposed to and is expected to protect internal/external confidential/unclassified information.
- Work is generally performed indoors (sedentary).
- Outdoor work, if any, is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
- Some travel anticipated.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, sit, use of hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, or smell.
